Dear St. Paul Lutheran Church!
My name is Jeff Burgess for those of you who may not know me yet. I am a first-year seminarian at Concordia Seminary in St. Louis and have been assigned as a fieldworker here at St. Paul’s. I am pleased to be here and looking forward to meeting and getting to know each of you in the future. I’d like to take this opportunity to let you know a little bit more about myself.
My hometown is Berea, Ohio which is a suburb of Cleveland, where I was born and raised. My mom and extended family all live in the Cleveland area still. I am twenty-three years old and just graduated from my undergraduate university in May of this year. I attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and received a B.A. in German as well as Comparative Religion. At Miami University I also met my girlfriend Bailey. We have been together now for a little over four months. As time goes on, hopefully you will get a chance to meet some of my family and Bailey.
My studies here at Concordia Seminary are going well. I am currently enrolled in Greek. So far all is going well, but there is plenty of language to be learned which is keeping me well occupied! So far I am really enjoying my time in the St. Louis area. The city is lively and offers a lot of great activities to enjoy and also opportunities for different and unique ministries.
I look forward to meeting all of you at one point or another and getting to better know you. I am glad to be here at St. Paul to learn and assist where I can in Sunday worship, youth group activities, bible classes, etc. Thank you all for welcoming me into your congregation so warmly!
