Why Go To Church?

A Church goer wrote a letter to the editor of a newspaper and complained that it made no sense to go to church every Sunday. "I've gone for 30 years now" he wrote, "and in that time I have heard something like 3,000 sermons. But for the life of me, I can't remember a single one of them. So, I think I'm wasting my time and the pastors are wasting theirs by giving sermons at all"

This started a real controversy in the "Letters to the Editor" column, much to the delight of the editor. It went on for weeks until someone wrote this clincher: I've been married for 30 years now. In that time my wife has cooked some 32,000 meals. But for the life of me, I cannot recall the entire menu for a single one of those meals. But I do know this: They all nourished me and gave me the strength I needed to do my work. If my wife had not given me these meals, I would be physically dead today. Likewise, if I had not gone to church for nourishment, I would be spiritually dead today!"

Mites on a Mission

As Pastor Schultz mentioned in his sermon on LWML Sunday, October 2nd, "Don't mess with the Ladies of the LWML!". I must say, the Ladies  of the LWML are movers and shakers in getting some things done. Thanks to each of you for your help and support of all our projects!
One such project is support of the "Mite" program, We are happy to report $451.74 was collected in October and sent in to complete our 2011 year total of $845.24. God Bless each mite as it flows with others to do His work in God's Kingdom. Hopefully we will have a new list of projects that will be voted on at the "Iron Mountain" Fall Rally .
Thank you one and all!
Arlene Marschel. Mite Chairman

Christmas Music Festival

On Dec. 11th, the youth group will be sponsoring a Christmas Music Festival. Members of the congregation, as well as the choir and chime choir will be participating in this festival. The festival begins at 6PM, with refreshments following in the auditorium. If you would like to be part of the music festival, please let either Amy Held or Michelle Benson know by Wed. Nov. 16. We are hoping to have a practice the Sunday before Thanksgiving (Nov. 20). More information will follow for those who are participating.

Mission Board

Mission board gives a big thank you to all the members who came to donate blood at the blood drive on Oct. 30. We had 19 people donate!

Evangelism Committee

Evangelism Committee would like to thank all those who donated items and participated in the Fall Festival. We had a good turn-out, with many children from the community as well as church members. Everyone had a fun time making s'mores, decorating pumpkins, and of course, trunk-or-treating.
